THE IMPACT WILL PLAY AGAINST RIVER PLATE AUGUST 4

PRESS RELEASE: June 15, 2009

MONTREAL – The Montreal Impact announced Monday the presentation of an international friendly game against Club Atlético River Plate, a first division club in Argentina, Tuesday, August 4, at Saputo Stadium. “We are glad to add this international game to our calendar,” said Montreal Impact and Saputo Stadium President Joey Saputo. “River Plate is a great club in South America, among the two most prestigious in Argentina. It’s therefore an honour to have the opportunity to play against them. In the last years, we have maintained an ongoing collaboration with Argentinean soccer. This match will allow us to show our local talent and to stage once again top level soccer in Montreal.”

CA River Plate, currently under the helm of head coach Néstor Gorosito, has won the Argentine Championship 33 times. River Plate is ranked fifth in the Clausura championship with a 7-4-6 record.

With this 6th international game added to its summer calendar in Montreal, the 5th one at Saputo Stadium, the Impact international game schedule is now completed.

“After seeing the enthusiasm for our international games last year, we made an exceptional effort to present this international programming,” added Joey Saputo. “Since the Impact is a non profit organization, it was important for us that the game tickets remain very affordable. It is now up to the population in Quebec and to local communities to respond.”

Tickets for the game against CA River Plate will go on sale Friday, at 10 am, through Admission (514-790-1245 / admission.com) or at the ticketing office of Saputo Stadium. Ticket prices will range between $15 to $40 (taxes included). Youth rates for spectators aged 16 and under, as well as special group rates, will also be offered.
